- Date
Write the current date in the top right corner. You can use numbers (04/30/2025) or spell it out (April 30, 2025). This shows when the check was written. - Payee Line ("Pay to the Order of")
Clearly write the name of the person, company, or organization receiving the check. Be sure the name is spelled correctly. - Amount in Numbers
Write the amount of the check in numbers in the small box (e.g., 125.00). Include both dollars and cents. - Amount in Words
On the line beneath the payee’s name, write the same amount in words (e.g., One hundred twenty-five and 00/100). This confirms the correct amount. - Memo Line (Optional)
Use this line to write why you're writing the check (e.g., “May Rent” or “Graduation Gift”). This is helpful for your own records. - Signature
Sign your name on the line in the bottom right corner. Without a signature, the check is not valid and cannot be cashed or deposited.
